OUT OF BUSINESS
Toronto small businesses were hit hard during the Covid pandemic. Although the owners are trying their best to remain operational, the situation is quite devastating. As of the end of 2020, 61% or nearly two-thirds of small businesses may be forced to close their doors for good. Some areas of the city are affected more than others. In many neighbourhoods, over 50% of shops are already permanently closed, while remaining struggle to make ends meet. Unfortunately, this photo collage shows only a tiny fraction of stores and businesses that are closed down or no longer exist. The situation is quite demoralizing considering that small & medium size businesses are the major players in Toronto's economy. Since March of 2020, tens of thousands of jobs were lost in this ongoing economic apocalypse.
