Toronto small businesses were hit hard during the Covid pandemic. Although the owners were trying their best to remain operational, the situation was quite devastating. As of the end of 2020, 61% or nearly two-thirds of small businesses were forced to close their doors. Some parts of the city were affected more than others. In many neighbourhoods, over 50% of shops closed permanently, while remaining struggled to make ends meet. This photo collage shows only a tiny fraction of small businesses that are no longer operational.
